Maths Calculation Steps

We are constantly trying to find different ways to support children’s learning both in school and at home.

Children in years 1 through to 6 have logins to three web based resources.

MyMaths                        https://www.mymaths.co.uk/

This is a web based resource that provides lessons and questions on aspects of the national curriculum. Pupils may be set homework on MyMaths and are able to access the lesson prior to attempting the online worksheet. There are also games and short activities that children can access if they wish to practise a particular skill.

Times tables Rockstars                https://www.ttrockstars.com/

This is a web based resource that focuses solely on times tables. The national curriculum suggests that at the end of year 4 all children should know all of their times tables and the related division facts. Your child’s teacher is able to adjust the settings for individuals but children can access all of the times tables in ‘concerts’ and ‘festivals’. The more ‘gigs’ they play the more ‘rockstar’ they will become.

Sumdog                  https://www.sumdog.com/

Sumdog is a web based resource and children can access lots of the free games that focus on mental maths. These will be a complete mixture of questions looking at all aspects of the curriculum. Sumdog is also available as an app and can be downloaded onto a tablet. Some tablets do not support flash player so not all games may be available. Sumdog runs various competitions which we may enter children into in the future.

We hope you will support us in encouraging your child to spend time on both of these resources as any extra practice they can get with mental calculations will greatly help them in the future.
